Payroll Coordinator

The Opportunity

The DEV Hotel & Conference Centre is seeking an experienced and qualified Payroll Coordinator to process a bi-weekly payroll and associated tasks. Reporting to the controller, the Payroll Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for employees of the DEV Centre. This position supports payroll operations, maintains employee records, ensures compliance with provincial legislation, and provides exceptional service to internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process full‑cycle payroll for hourly and salaried employees in accordance with Ontario employment standards and company policies.
  • Review and validate timecards, overtime, vacation, leaves, and other payroll‑related data.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, including new hires, terminations, status changes, and compensation updates.
  • Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs), T4s, and other statutory documents.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and investigate discrepancies.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, benefits, and deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with the Employment Standards Act (ESA), Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requirements, and internal controls.
  • Support year‑end processes and audits as required.

  • Collaborate with HR to ensure data accuracy and process improvements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • College diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of payroll experience (Ontario payroll experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of ESA, CRA payroll regulations, and payroll best practices.
  • Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP or similar).
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy.
  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Professional) certification (or working toward it) is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting an asset.

Working Conditions

  • This is an on-site office position.

Status: Part-time/Permanent(16-24 hours weekly)

Annual Salary: $25 to $27 hourly

Vacancy: 1-position, department addition

Performance Bonus: Discretionary
